Parade, Events and Park Activities Cancelled for 2020. Committee is Working on Possible Fireworks Display

May 19, 2020

The Delano 4th of July Committee is announcing changes to the 2020 event.  Due to financial considerations we are modifying the event to ensure our ability to have the Delano 4th of the July in the future.  With all the uncertainty and impending deadlines to commit to the vendors, food, beverage and entertainment, the Committee does not feel that making a large financial commitment is prudent for the perpetuation of the event for generations to come.

As of today, the Committee is working on a possible fireworks display.  There are several things that still need to be worked out in order to have the display.  We will send out another communication once we have more complete information.  The parade and park activities will not take place this year. The event was to be held Wednesday, July 1 through Saturday, July 4th.

The Delano 4th of July Celebration started in 1857.  Over the years it has changed in many different ways.  One year in the early 1900s, the parade was simply twelve brand new manure spreaders pulled proudly by their owners for all residents to see.  While this year won’t have a parade or park activities, we are hopeful to still celebrate with a fireworks display.

This has been a long and challenging process and we would like to thank everyone that has given us feedback.  We would also like to thank all the vendors and committee chairs for all their work leading up to this decision.  Without them and all of our volunteers our event is not possible.  We look forward to working with everyone to make 2021 our best year ever.

On behalf of our entire Committee, Volunteers, and our Community we would like to say THANK YOU for all the support and look forward to seeing you all again in 2021.
